Windows 7 (previously known as Blackcomb, then Vienna) is the next version of Microsoft Windows, operating system from Microsoft, for use of personal computers, including home and business computers, laptops, tablets, media center PCs.

Microsoft said in 2007 that the planned development of Windows 7 is within three years from the date of the formal marketing of its predecessor, Windows Vista, but that the final date will be determined by the quality of the product.

Unlike the case with previous operating system from Microsoft, Windows 7 will be an upgrade in order to complete compatibility with existing drivers for devices, applications and hardware. Presentations made by the company in 2008 focused attention over the "Multi-touch" support, updated look with a new Windows task bar, system of home network called "HomeGroup" and improvements in productivity. Some applications which until now have been included in previous editions of Microsoft Windows, the most prominent of which Windows Windows Mail, Windows Calendar, Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Photo Gallery will no longer be part of the operating system. Instead, they are available separately.
