An excellent free file manager, full of additional features for handling any type of file. Easy to use, in Italian, highly customizable. Okay for beginners and advanced users. Highly recommended.
If you are looking for a free alternative to Windows File Manager (Windows Explorer or Windows Explorer), which is reliable, friendly, full of options and preferably in Italian, you are in your lucky day. You found it. FreeCommander 2009.02b is all that and maybe more.
It features a double window that allows you to navigate and move content from one part of your hard drive with much more ease and speed with which the traditional Windows Explorer. It also includes various display options, integrated utility to manage compressed files, split large files, view image files or text search tools (like with analytical functions also inside compressed files).
FreeCommander 2009.02b is highly configurable, in all its features. For example, you can set filters to search only files with certain extension, or you can choose key combinations for common tasks. From the aesthetic point of view does not make us stare in wonder, but you can look at without shuddering.
As for usability, maybe they could improve, maybe a little magnifying 'the size of icons (but do keep all features at a single click in one interface, something one has to sacrifice) and fixes a small bug in the toolbar tools (if you reduce the width of the window disappear the last button). Last unexpected treat: FreeCommander 2009.02b also deals with few resources. It can be installed on a USB stick or CD to take with you and use it on any PC. In short, comparing it briefly with Total Commander offers nothing less (other than the FTP functions). It has more that is free of charge.
