Inkscape 0.47pre2 Beta is a vector graphics editor open source, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara X using the W3C standard: the file format Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).
The program has multiple options like the ability to handle image formats like PNG, JPG, BMP or TIFF; layer systems; default figures, and so on.
This application is also capable of editing XML, in addition to almost all the tools of any vector image editor.
Inkscape 0.47pre2 Beta main goal is to create a powerful drawing tool and comfortable, fully standards-compliant XML, SVG and CSS.
