The Desktop is not a man of a single image, you can hang around all the photos you want, but do not use pins. To do something better, is called PhotoDesktop and I remind the polaroids.
Whether you can turn photos of your iPhoto library, or any picture in one of those snapshots of the glory days of the Polaroid camera. The photos will be above T but below your desktop icons, so this way you can keep working without losing functionality.
Best of all is that for each of the snapshots, you can add a caption but also adjust the font (size and color), rotation angle of the photo and specific location on the desktop. Surely, this is an original way to present your photos, or better, enjoy them.
