Songbird 1.8.0 Final is a desktop Web player, a digital jukebox and Web browser mash-up. Like Winamp, it supports extensions and skins feathers. Like Firefox, it is built from Mozilla ®, cross-platform and open source. As we have been telling you these last weeks, Songbird 1.8.0 Final, the media player to the Mozilla Foundation, is the subject of multiple news and most of all developments, which after all is what matters to users.
After the birth of Nightingale , now comes the beta version of Songbird 1.8.0 Final. This new version will incorporate the main innovations, support for systems with Windows 7, the playback of video files and synchronization with devices with SD memory.
The video display returns to Songbird and it does based on GStreamer. Supported formats are: support for OGG Theora, on all platforms, in the MacOS version, support for MPEG 4 and H.264, MP4 files in Windows if you have Quicktime installed. Finally, in the Windows version can play WMV files.
